If you want to stay relevant in the long run, you need a compelling and consumer-centric mission to pursue.
Successful organizations of the future will not only cater to our needs but also to our hearts and minds. Why? Because future generations won’t buy your products and services just to satisfy a need. They want to buy in on a relevant mission they can empathize with. A story of why you exist matters to them.
Do you know who’s the company that Generation Z admires the most? Not TikTok. Not Instagram. Not Apple. It is Google. Learn how companies like Google, Netflix (#3 after YouTube – which is part of Google) and Amazon (#3) use their missions to filter new ideas and to guide product development across their organizations, giving their consumers the no-compromise products they expect, and their employees a purpose for working there.
At Innovation Lab, we’re happy to invite you to our first post-covid hybrid event. We will fly in San Francisco-based Lab Agent, Juan Carlos Velten, to teach you exactly why you need mission-driven product development – and how to do it. At this hybrid event, you’ll get the opportunity to participate in person or virtually – whatever fits your schedule. The timeline of the event will look like this:
09.00-09.45: Talk on mission-driven product development by Juan Carlos Velten (for both in-person and virtual participants)
09.45-10.00: Q&A-session (for both in-person and virtual participants)
10.00-10.15: Break and snacks (for in-person participants)
10.15-11.15: Workshop session (for in-person participants)
11.15-12.00: Networking (for in-person participants)
During the talk, you will learn to craft consumer-centric mission statements that go beyond words and focus an organization on what really matters to stay relevant in the long run. During the workshop part of the event, you will work in teams to apply a design thinking process to evolve a mission statement for a fictitious organization through several iterations, and then use it to decide its product direction. This exercise you can easily re-create with your team when you’re back at work.
- An understanding of the importance of having a brief, honest, and compelling mission statement.
- Tools to find your “Why” and transform it into a mission everyone in the organization can rally behind.
- Valuable insights from discussions with other participants in breakout sessions.
