Innovation Labs digital platform, ProjectPad, helped the municipality of Copenhagen gather internal ideas and turn them into real projects.
In a large and complex organization – such as the Municipality of Copenhagen – with a great focus on digitalization, a transverse digital unit (Digitale Champions) wanted to gather, qualify, and choose the most relevant digital projects within the organization. A process, which normally would require many resources over a longer period – without specific transparency or overview for the people involved. With that in mind, the Copenhagen Municipality choose to use the digital platform ProjectPad in order to streamline and visualize the process so that as many employees as possible would be engaged in realizing the digital projects in the shortest time possible.
Process
Based on an understanding of the existing processes within idea gathering and decision-making in the municipality, Innovations Labs ProjectPad team introduced the Digitale Champions unit to the platform and started a process based in this from the gathering of ideas to pick the projects. The activity on the platform was continuously monitored, and the internal communication via the notification systems adjusted to the needs of the users.
Result
Through ProjectPad, a broad selection of employees within the municipality was invited onto the platform, in which they contributed with both comments and gave points so that 3 projects in just a month could be picked for further development. The -municipality of Copenhagen has chosen to intensify and expand the use of ProjectPad in the autumn of 2018, so the platform will be used for both gathering of ideas, picking between projects – and developing these as well.
